The Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), and its Trade Union counterpart in Zamfara State, have joined in the nationwide indefinite strike, in compliance with the directive of the national leadership.
The two labour union leaders informed journalists in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, of their decision to join the indefinite strike, to press home their demands.
The NLC and its affiliates said the strike was embarked upon, following hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidies, and the assault on the NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria, recently.
Though there was low compliance in Zamfara, with the directive from the NLC and TUC to members to withdraw their services on Tuesday, November 14, AIT’s visit to Yahaya Gusau Federal Secretariat, showed that a pocket of staff was seen coming in and out of the facility.
The state’s NLC and TUC Chairmen, Comrades Sani Halilu and Saidu Mudi, after addressing journalists, thereafter moved to the Jibrin Yakubu Secretariat and other establishments, to ensure compliance with the directive to the down tools.
