Cross River Governor, Bassey Otu, says “enough is enough” of kidnapping in the state, warning those who engage in criminal acts to change or the enforcement of anti-kidnapping law will start with them.
The Governor directed security operatives to arrest and prosecute all criminal elements in line with extant laws of the state, saying his current position was a deliberate effort to arrest the spate of incessant kidnapping and other forms of criminality in the state.
He warned that all citizens were equal before the law, stating that anyone found culpable will face the consequences, no matter how highly placed in the society.
The Governor also announced a reward for any useful information that could stem the tide of criminality in the state and bring perpetrators of the heinous crimes to book. He says it was sad to note that instead of keying into the new administration’s development strategy through the amnesty offered them, few criminal elements have resorted to making income while holding a gun on our heads, saying never again will such be allowed to continue.
