The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says it will no longer carry out sting operations at night.


The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Ola Olukoyede in a a statement released on Wednesday gave the directive in reaction to the arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters by Operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Commission in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The suspects, Students of Obafemi Awolowo College, Ile Ife, Osun State were captured in a 12 PM strike on lodgings outside the grounds.

58 of them were delivered after they were appropriately profiled.

The EFCC says the profiling of the excess confined people will be finished and assuming nothing implicating arises, they will be delivered right away.

The Senate has commenced the screening of newly-nominated candidates for the position of Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, during whole on Wednesday, declared President Bola Tinubu's solicitation for affirmation of the designation of the RECs for INEC according to the Nigeria of Section 154(1) of the Constitution.

Tinubu had last week endorsed the arrangement of 10 new RECs for INEC for a five-year term each.

"By powers vested in him by Section 154 (1) of the Constitution of the Government Republic of Nigeria (1999, Revised) and Section 6 of the Constituent Demonstration (2022), President Bola Tinubu has endorsed the arrangement of 10 new Occupant Discretionary Magistrates (RECs) for the Free Public Electing Commission (INEC) for a term of five (5) years each, dependent upon the affirmation of the Nigerian Senate," the assertion by the Administration read.
